Summer is here and we know you can’t wait to enjoy it! Are you aiming for an action-packed season or looking forward to long, lazy days? Whatever your plans, we have tips and tricks to make your summer sensational.
1. Sole saver
Avoid burning the soles of your feet by placing your flip-flops and shoes face down whenever you take them off. This prevents them from heating up in the sun, and helps keep your feet cool, calm, and collected.
2. Sayonara, sand
Sometimes when you return from a day at the beach, you end up bringing a good portion of the beach home with you. Minimize the mess by sprinkling baby powder on sand-covered skin. It absorbs any excess moisture and the sand will brush right off!
3. All for aloe
Aloe vera can aid in cooling and reducing swelling of sunburn. I learnt this tip when I got a motorhome hire in Auckland, I had a nasty sunburn when I went to return it and the receptionist suggested the aloe. Keep a bottle of aloe vera in the refrigerator for refreshing cool down after a day in the sun. Be sure to look for a good, organic product with as much aloe as possible (versus something artificial that’s full of fragrance and alcohol).
4. Buzz off
Nothing ruins a backyard barbecue faster than unwanted visitors. Keep boozy bugs at bay by putting a cupcake liner upside down over the top of your drink, and popping a straw through. Plastic wrap also works in a pinch.
5. Bye bye flies
Fresh fruit and veggies are one of the glorious perks of summer. Keep pesky fruit flies out of the good stuff by pointing a fan over your fruit bowl. The pests can’t fly into the “wind,” leaving your food free and clear of nasty gnats.
