My Cash4Books Story: Roshni

February 24, 2014

Editor’s Note: This story is one of the runner-ups of the My Cash4Books Story Contest. We asked our customers to tell us a little about themselves and their book selling experiences in their own words.

My name is Roshni. I am a public health student at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. I am 23 years old and live the typical student life, counting each and every penny in my wallet and considering it valuable no matter if it has a piece of crud stuck to it. My hobbies include working out, cooking and baking, and traveling, even it’s a small bus ride into New Jersey. Selling books was always one of the most difficult things about being a student. As much as I love the end of a semester, I used to dread buy backs, whether it was a college bookstore, or Amazon & Ebay.

My parents used to pay for my textbooks and it would break my heart to ask them to shell out over $300 in textbooks per quarter. Throughout my Masters, it has added up to over $1200 so far. I always wanted to pay some of it back so I would head to the college bookstore, lugging around 30 pounds of books into the store just to learn that they would buy 2 of my 10 books and for barely one fourth of the original price. Or more often then not, “buy backs end at 3 pm on Wednesdays, 2:30 on Thursdays, and lunchtime on Fridays.” What?? Your lunchtime or my lunchtime? It was really aggravating.

I found on Google, when I had had enough with Amazon and spending 10 dollars just to ship a book that would sell for 15, and where Amazon would take out 3 dollar commission. Turns out, I would make 2 dollars on that book, where I spent almost 40. Cash4Books paid for shipping, which was such a relief. I was able to type in my ISBN’s from the convenience of my laptop and right away see how much each was worth. The price I would get would be a relief to see because it was always a fair return and a good percentage of what I had paid to buy the book. Boxing it up was easy as well. I just grabbed an old box and filled it up and with packing tape attached the shipping label that Cash4Books provided. I took it to my nearest post office which is usually on my way no matter where I am headed. And the check usually arrived at my doorstep within days. I am so thankful for Cash4Books for making this experience of student life a bit easier for me and for other students.

As a runner-up, Roshni has received a 15% Cash4Books bonus code.
